18th Annual ArtEsteem Self as Super Hero Exhibit, Closing Reception

We invite you to our closing reception to celebrate another successful ArtEsteem exhibition, on Saturday, October 1st from 1pm - 3pm at Flax Art & Design.

Every year, we team up with 100's of Oakland Youth and ask them to re-imagine themselves as superheroes with powers to transform their community. The result is a colorful art exhibition that provides a creative platform for Oakland families, artists, and youth to come together through a journey of self-exploration and community empowerment.

Since July 21st, select pieces created by our ArtEsteem students have been on exhibit at Flax's Art & Design store in Oakland.

We invite you to come celebrate another successful exhibition with us on Saturday, October 1st from 1pm - 3pm at FLAX!

The life-sized portraits are for sale, with 50% of the proceeds going directly to the student artists, and the other 50% going towards the future work of ArtEsteem.

ArtEsteem focuses on, but is not limited to, serving children and youth who are at risk for violence and other dangerous behaviors. It aims to increase students’ capacity for leadership and enhance artistic skills in schools where art classes have been canceled due to budget cuts. ArtEsteem provides on-site art instruction, workshops and assemblies that impact over 2500 public-school children annually.

Each year, the program culminates in this professionally produced art exhibition that promotes young talent, provides a vehicle for public acknowledgment of their efforts, supports creative expression, and celebrates the importance of the arts.
