Accomplishments

2009-2010

Hired an ArtEsteem Professional Development Coach to support sites and staff in September of 2009

Began the first ever action-learning model utilizing Mindful Drumming to support mindfulness and emotional literacy throughout West Oakland Middle School

First ever Exchange and Response Exhibition: 16 CCA faculty members respond with their own new works, to artworks created by 16 youth artists featured in ArtEsteem‚ "Reflections of Me and My World" 2009 exhibit.

Worked collaboratively with Attitudinal Healing International to create an Attitudinal Healing Center in Abuja, Nigeria

2008-2009

Hosted the 11th Annual ArtEsteem exhibition "Reflections of Me and My World 2009" in partnership with Center for Art and Public Life of California College of the Arts

Served approximately 3500 students K-12 via ArtEsteem visual and cultural art classes and professional development for teachers

Served over 200 public school teachers K-12 via ArtEsteem visual and cultural art professional development

Led and implemented the 3rd 100 Families West Oakland project in partnership with M. Robinson Baker YMCA, co-sponsored by ACOE and Center for Art and Public Life of CCA

Hosted the 11th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. National Holiday Celebration "MAKE THE DREAM REAL", Keynote Speakers, Rev. Elouise Oliver & Dr. Matthew Fox

Successfully developed a partnership with Oakland Housing Authority (OHA) creating a Good Neighbor Program for OHA residents grounded in the principles of attitudinal healing.

Held over twenty circles in Oakland to offer support to individuals, heal the wounds of fear and violence and build community

Held eleven Mindful Drumming Meditations for World Peace in the West Oakland Community

Held eleven Racial Healing Circles in the West Oakland Community

Received 2009 Peace Builder Award presented by Northern CA Campaign for a U. S. Department of Peace
